History
The country itself was discovered, according to the most recent collections of history, 2,500 years ago. With medieval ties and diverse history through-out the country, UNESCO is now protecting numerous-islands and cities of the country. It was once taken over by the Hellenic world and Romans. After numerous takeovers, wars and battles, it became a country in 1878. (Independence was not until 2006) The name of the country derived from what a Venetian sailor once described the city as, a “black mountain.”
