History
The French Riviera is full of rich and diverse history. Dating back to pre-roman history, archaeologist have traced inhabitants back to 600 bc. The region was quite familiar to infamous individuals such as: Julius Caesar, Emperor Augustus, Louis XIV, Paul Signac and even Van Gogh. In that, there was numerous battles and wars over the territory. It was not until 1887 until the area received it’s official name: Cote d’Azur, or the blue coast.
